Sabrina and Ben met at YLCC Pigeon Lake during a staff training weekend. They knew they would get married that summer when they worked together at camp; when he said I love you first.
Sabrina recaps the proposal
“It was adorable, but I am biased. We were going to a friends’ place for New Years in Hawkestone, but had to go to camp (YLCC) to return a bed frame. I really didn’t want to go as it was snowing badly and I was in a bad mood. Once we got to camp our maintenance man texted me and asked if we could move a ‘mounted fish’ from the dining hall to the waterfront (a 1.5km walk in 2ft of snow I may add). I really didn’t want to, and if anyone else asked I would have had said no, but he is a bit eclectic. We walked down there, me very begrudgingly, and put it in the building that is a few hundred meters from the waterfront. We got there and I was ready to turn around and he suggested we go to the water- that is where he asked me out. I really didn’t want to but he gave me this look and I just knew. We walked on to the dock, snow past our ankles, and he got down on one knee in a snowstorm. Our best friend was hiding down the beach and got photos of the whole thing. It was perfect.”
Purple is the main colour as its is Sabrina’s favourite colour, and Ben likes it a lot as well. They chose to use burlap and lace accents as they like a rustic vibe a lot and Ben grew up on a farm. The odd silver accent was used as well.
